Thank you!How do I extract data from a damaged laptop hard drive into another computer?
Provided that the drive itself isn't damaged, you can use a USB to IDE adapter (see link below), and extract the data from the drive. If the drive is damaged, then you might have to take it to a data recovery service, and they aren't cheap, had first hand experience with that.

There is such a thing. Best buy carries them. Once you determine the platform... Pata/sata you can go from there. It will either be an external case for the laptop hard drive or....an external docking station. Just throw it in there, plug it into a USB port and the computer should pick it up.
From there just transfer the files from her hard drive onto yours, then burn it onto a cd or whatever you plan to do with it.
there are cases on the market that you can put a hard drive in and turn it into a USB hard drive. try newegg.com
You could try and use a hard drive enclosure that u could buy from any computer store like bestbuy or circuit city. be sure that what you buy would be an enclosure for a notebook hard drive (2.5 inch enclosure). also, since you didnt give the type of hard drive, be sure that what you buy would match your hard drive like ATA-6 type.
