How data goes from the processor to the main memory?

I need to write an explanation regarding this. I have to use simple language suitable for a 13-year-old. I have to include the terms 鈥榬ead鈥? 鈥榳rite鈥? 鈥榣ocation鈥?and 鈥榓ddress鈥? but he may not know what they mean.

He was away from school for the lesson where they learned how data gets from the main memory to the processor and back again, and he has emailed me to ask me to explain it to him.

Please help. How data goes from the processor to the main memory?
In order to move a word in and out of memory, a distinct address has to be assigned to each word. The address will be used to determine the location in the memory in which a given word is stored. This is called a memory write operation. Similarly, the address will be used to determine the memory location from which a word is to be retrieved from the memory. This is called a memory read operation. typically, memory read and memory write operations are performed by the central processing unit (CPU).
